- Responsible for observing and applying sound judgment in patients’ physical and mental conditions/needs.
- Document and communicate changes in patient’s appearance, behavior, and ability to work towards treatment plan goals.
- Provide assessment in psychosocial/leisure and recreational skills development/deficiency.
- Assist patients in achieving their optimum level of independent functioning.
- Plan and implement activity therapy for assigned patient caseload within the facility.
- Model and teach patients appropriate social, coping, and stress management techniques.
- Contribute to treatment plans with specific goals and interventions in therapeutic activities.
Your Experience Matters What we’re looking for:
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree or higher from an accredited college or university in Music Therapy or Therapeutic Recreation; Master’s Degree or higher in Occupational Therapy, Art Therapy, Dance/Movement Therapy, Physical Therapy, or Drama Therapy; or equivalent/related field.
- Experience: One (1) year of related experience, with knowledge of psychiatric patient care techniques and understanding of mental illness, preferred.
- Licensure: Certification or licensure by state and/or national governing body in one of the following areas: Recreation Therapy (CTRS); Occupational Therapy (NBCOT); Art Therapy (ATR); Dance/Movement Therapy (R-DMT); Drama Therapy (RDT); or Music Therapy (MT-BC).
Compensation:

The Creative Arts Therapist is an integral member of a collaborative team of therapists
dedicated to guiding clients in growth and healing through trauma-informed, diverse and
inclusive counseling and creative arts therapies modalities. The creative arts therapist has the
opportunity to work with a wide range of diverse populations through counseling services for
individual adults, couples, children and families, and group therapy services. Seeking
candidates with training and interest in working with couples and families, as well as individuals.
This is a part-time to full-time position, with a minimum commitment of 15 direct service hours
per week for in-person therapy at our Chicago Old Irving Park location and telehealth remotely.
Candidates with a desire to build a caseload to full-time employment with a minimum of 25
direct service hours per week are encouraged to apply.

Required Qualifications:
● Must have a Master’s degree in counseling or related mental health field
● Must be Registered or Board Certified in one of the Creative Arts Therapies (music
therapy, drama therapy, poetry therapy, art therapy, or dance/movement therapy) or a
Registered Expressive Arts Therapist
● Fully licensed LCPC/LCSW in preferred, LPC/LSW and eligible to be fully licensed in
Illinois required
● Two years + post-graduate work in the field
● Comfortable and familiar with working with diverse populations
● Available at least 15 direct service hours per week, including at least one weekend day.
Compensation:
Compensation is based on licensure, experience, and caseload size.
Compensation includes an hourly rate for billable direct service/clinical hours ($42 – $52/hour
starting part-time rate), plus an hourly rate for non-billable administrative hours ($20/hour).

General Information
Music Therapy Connections is seeking a board-certified music therapist to fulfill the duties of a full-time music therapist within a private practice setting during the course of the primary therapist’s 12-week maternity leave. At the end of this maternity leave, the primary therapist will be returning to working half-time. The individual covering the maternity leave will continue working with half of the clients/contracts from the maternity leave coverage and will take on additional clients to return their case load to a full-time position.
The individual filling this position will work with a team of six board-certified music therapists: Molly Robitaille, Emma Harmon, Cicely McCain, Jessica Smith, Katelyn Kratz, and Rachel Rambach and will be under the direct supervision of on-site studio manager, Molly Robitaille, and business owners, Katelyn Kratz and Rachel Rambach.
The individual hired for this position will complete a full onboarding and orientation with the business prior to spending their first weeks observing/co-treating with the board-certified music therapist going on maternity leave.
